Highlights from Our Latest Street Food Festival

This past weekend, Crafter Lane came alive with the mouthwatering aromas and vibrant energy of our much-anticipated Street Food Festival. Set against the charming backdrop of Crafter Lane, the festival attracted food lovers from all corners of Bristol and beyond. Here’s a taste of what made this year’s event truly unforgettable.

A Feast for the Senses

The festival kicked off at noon on Saturday, with over 30 food trucks and stalls lining Crafter Lane. From the first bite, it was clear that this was a celebration of global flavours. Highlights included “Taco Tonic,” serving up authentic Mexican street tacos bursting with flavor, and “Biryani Bliss,” where guests queued for spicy, aromatic biryanis that transported taste buds straight to the streets of Mumbai.

For those craving something closer to home, “The Yorkshire Pudding Wagon” delivered a modern twist on British classics, with loaded Yorkshire puds that had everyone coming back for seconds. And who could forget the vegan delights at “Green Gourmet,” where even the most devoted meat-eaters were won over by the rich and hearty plant-based dishes?

Live Entertainment and Workshops

In addition to the incredible food, festival-goers were treated to live music from local bands and solo artists who brought a festive atmosphere to the event. The sound of acoustic guitars and upbeat rhythms filled the air, providing the perfect soundtrack as people strolled from stall to stall, sampling dishes and discovering new favourites.

For those interested in honing their culinary skills, the festival also featured interactive workshops. “Spice It Up!” was a particular hit, with Chef Riya Patel demonstrating how to create the perfect spice blend for homemade curries. Over at “Sourdough Society” attendees learned the art of sourdough baking from the head baker at Sourdough Society, Tom Bridgeman, with many walking away with their own freshly baked loaves.

Family Fun and Festivities

The Street Food Festival was a family-friendly event, with plenty to keep the little ones entertained. The Kids’ Corner, set up near the North Entrance, featured face painting, balloon animals, and a mini cooking class where children could create their own pizzas. The highlight for many was the “Cupcake Decorating Challenge,” where young bakers showed off their creativity and took home sweet prizes.

A Community Celebration

The festival wasn’t just about food; it was about community. Crafter Lane partnered with local charities, with a portion of the proceeds from the event going to support Bristol Food Bank and the East End Community Centre. It was heartwarming to see so many people come together to enjoy great food while also giving back to the community.
